Rugby Skills

The Rhinos Academy focuses on teaching and improving the players’ rugby skills such as: tackle, catching and passing, ball contact, footwork etc. We have developed a testing system that assesses each player’s basic and position-specific rugby skills on a regular basis. Based on each player’s Rhinos Rugby ScoreTM, game film and live performances, we design a program and constantly adjust the training sessions to work on each player’s weaknesses, improve their game and develop their all-around rugby skills.

Strength & Conditioning

The Rhinos Academy focuses, through our team training, on improving the players’ strength and conditioning such as: aerobic, speed, strength, power, agility etc. We have developed a testing system that that assesses each player’s basic, position-specific and age-specific strength and conditioning level, on a regular basis. Based on each player’s Rhinos Rugby ScoreTM, game film and live performances, we design a program and constantly evaluate and adjust the training sessions to improve each player’s rugby conditioning level.

Rugby IQ

The Rhinos Academy focuses on improving the players’ rugby IQ such as: decision-making, space awareness, offensive patterns etc. Through our Rhinos Rugby ScoreTM evaluation program, we identify and focus on each player’s rugby IQ possible improvement areas, while ensuring that the player has a clear understanding about how they apply them in future game situations.

Game video analysis

Our Academy team uses various angles of game videos to analyze the skills, fitness, strategy of the players as a team. The players are given a recommendation report which is position and age specific during team training.

Nutrition Newsletter

We consider proper nutrition as a vital aspect of growth and recovery, both physically and mentally, for the boys and girls in our Academy program. We teach our kids how to have a balanced diet, the importance of eating regularly, and of avoiding harmful ingredients such as sodium and trans-fats. We value instilling good life and eating habits from a young age.

MyZone Heart Rate Monitor

We measure the intensity of effort and fitness schedule from any gym or workout place, including the field.
Check it out at: http://myzone.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/MYZONE_Get_Started_Guide.pdf

Body Metrics

We measure the progress and development of the players from a body metrics perspective as well

Minimum GPA

We are a school-first program, and therefore we require a 2.5 GPA to qualify to play for the academy team (“squad”). This is the baseline for any college recruiter to look at any player. We monitor school grades and liaise with parents to make sure our academy members are keeping up with school work. If a player fails to meet the minimum requirement, priority is given to academics before the player can train or play with the team.

Tutoring

We offer tutoring to our academy members, up to 2 hours a week per player. The program includes checking the kids grades to ensure they meet the minimum Rhinos Academy requirement, as well as consulting with parents to set up a procedure to help our players do better in school.

This is a platform that showcases the kids complete packages of work from school GPA to Rhino Player ScoreTM test to every work out, bodymetrics and even community service log.

We have devised our own community service program for our kids. Helping others is a huge part of teaching kids to think about others who are less fortunate and how rewarding it can be to help others.
